It's not yet. I will probably post a translation of the text I used for the speech in the coming days. It won't be exactly what I said but will allow readers to get the gist of it.

Nicolas:

What I meant is that while it is risky to create a startup (there is a 95% chance of failure within 5 years), it's not fundamentally risky for your life (as opposed to being in a concentration camp).

Worse comes to worse you go back to what you were doing before with a fantastic life experience. You might be 2 years behind your colleagues in the rat race, but who really cares in the long run (and arguably your experience will help you catch up).

More importantly you tried something you really wanted to do so you have nothing to regret. If you had not tried, you might regret not having tried and who really wants to live with regrets?

Obviously if the idea of failure frightens you and actual failure risks putting you in a permanent state of depression, you should try to work for the government instead of creating a startup :)

Super pres Fabrice!

One little comment: I think only a special type of people would go through a painful failure like you did and draw the conclusion that "there's no risk". Some (many) people never recover from failure.
This may be an extreme comparison, but something similar has been observed from Nazi concentration camps survivors: some people can never get over the trauma, others kept a positive outlook and thrived once free again (as portrayed in Roberto Benini's "Life is beautiful"). I presume there must be a genetic pre-disposition on how to handle adversity - my ex-wife suggested I take depression-inducing pills and stop taking all these risks :-)

Anyway, great pres, thanks!

Bonjour,

* C'est ce que l'on m'a demande de raconter.

* Je n'en avais pas vraiment parle en francais et je pense que c'est un message qui merite d'etre ammene en France.
