As Fabrice Grinda said “I have come to realize that people around the world are much more alike than they like to admit. We all share similar goals and aspirations. We have a fundamental need to express our identity, to entertain ourselves, to communicate and to trade. As such many ideas are transposable across cultures, languages and countries.” His article can be found (here) Just thinking of all the successful startups in other countries (read USA)that can be replicated in your own countries, generate a big pool of ideas.
Innovation: My experience has taught me one valuable lesson: Innovation is not just creating new ideas, it also includes applying old ideas in new ways. I true believe this to be true. While I certainly see the virtue in transposing the idea, doing it allover again also gives the opportunity to address the issues the initial implementations may have missed or were not able to address given the landscape at the time of their implementation. History they say is an excellent teacher.

Amen to that! I too find consumer markets to be more homogeneous than expected.

In a weird way...this may be where communications technology, including the net, is headed: everybody reading the same things, knowing the same people and having the same interests. Of course, we will never reach this point, but it might be something like the event horizon of technology.

Btw, welcome to blogging. Hope to read many of your posts.

P.S. If you are going to be writting alot, try http://www.jacuba.com/ It's an online spell checker and it works great (saves copying and pasting stuff) ;)
